Justin is a good friend I met years ago at a University film club. I have always admired his “can-do” attitude and how he always manages to get things done. I was flattered when he asked me to be a part of his project, and thoroughly enjoyed the script which made me emotional. Working with Justin was a treat, and was hugely collaborative. He gave me a lot of free rein in designing the short, including making a nostalgic school board, adding colours and flair to the restaurant that was reminiscent of a character’s Filipino background. With a production design budget of about $400 I was quite proud of what we could achieve together through months of pre-production and having a fantastic team.
