I admire Rea’s professionalism and the vulnerability she brings to her characters and story. When I learned that this short would explore the differences in cultural and gender norms between a traditional Greek mother and her Greek-Australian daughter, I knew I was in. Pre-production was fun, as I could use a pool of resources from my Greek friends, online research, and build upon the pictures that Rea had of her grandparent’s home in Greece. Designing on a tight budget with mostly borrowed props was a challenge, but one that was enjoyable with such a supportive crew.
