Beachcombing (Short)
Role: Production Designer
Director: Jamie Tak
Producer : Sally Long & Vivian Tang
What a fun time production designing for this short film. First time I ever worked with Jamie and instantly fell in love with the script and her as a person and director. The story reminded me of a distant dream or poetry! Which I said to her in our first meeting. It was an engaging short to work collaboratively on, what fantastic vision Jamie has. See some photos below for my first time DIY/researching how to build a standalone wall that needed to be hoisted up a narrow flight of stairs in a heritage building. What fun!

Building the wall structure
I learned a lot on what to do and what not to do with a circular saw. This task felt huge to me at the time, but after asking around the local theatre that I volunteer at and using trusty old youtube, I managed to build, cut to shape, transport, and assemble my own standalone wall!
The difficult part was having to match the colour and texture to the heritage building that we were shooting in. After taking lots of photos of our location, I asked some very knowledgeable people at Bunnings and watched some more DIY youtube videos to make this sick mix. There was also the added difficulty of ensuring the hole in the wall (where a mysterious creature peers through during the story) was small enough to pass off as being secretive but large enough for a camera lens to look through. Safe to say Jamie and I were pretty happy at the outcome ☺
